Reduce Pollutants from Wastewater

Third-party tests have found BAM Engineered filtration media show statistically significant reductions for total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and fecal bacteria between influent and effluent concentrations removes up to 75% of nitrate concentrations.

Removing final nutrient loads from treated wastewater is a challenge and expensive. BAM Engineered Filtration Media offers a cost-effective solution to remove nitrogen and phosphorus from treated wastewater at the discharge point in applications like spray fields and Rapid Infiltration Basins (RIBS).

How Does It Work

The treatment process in wastewater reclamation facilities convert ammonia to nitrate through conventional treatment processes making BAM Engineered Filtration Media the perfect solution to remove final concentrations of Nitrogen. BAM Engineered Filtration Media removes nitrate through a biological process by converting nitrate to nitrogen gas. The natural and recycled components of the media offer the perfect environment for denitrifying bacteria to live and work.

Phosphorus is removed through filtration, sedimentation, sorption, ion exchange, and precipitation. BAM Engineered Filtration Media has significant surface area providing a high sorption capacity which leads to a longer lifespan and lower replacement costs.
